The Rijal Lab participates in this collaborative project, with Ramesh Rijal serving as Co-Principal Investigator and Daniel Graham (Millsaps College) as Principal Investigator. The lab leads experimental validation studies focused on host responses to bacterial infection.
HHMI Science Education Alliance (SEA-PHAGES and SEA-GENES)
Since Spring 2025
Since Spring 2025, the Rijal Lab has participated in the HHMI Science Education Alliance through the SEA-PHAGES and SEA-GENES programs at the University of Southern Mississippi. Through the Microbial Genetics laboratory course (BSC 477/577), students work on bacteriophage discovery, genome annotation, and functional testing of phage genes that affect bacterial growth and stress tolerance. This course-based work connects genomics with hands-on experiments and feeds directly into ongoing research in the lab.
